Rao algorithm-based method for optimisation of steel frames using nonlinear inelastic analysis

Metaheuristic optimisation algorithms have been increasingly used because of their superior ability to find globally optimal solutions. Theoretically, these are very powerful and can be applied in all types problems. However, reality, performance depends on the characteristics each problem class. In addition, complexity an algorithm is important factor affecting its application specific design this paper, Rao algorithm, one newest metaheuristic algorithms, presented for steel frame structures. The advantage that it quite simple with few parameters, so engineers easily apply daily tasks. A nonlinear inelastic analysis consider behaviors structure. two-story space studied. results show Rao-1 more stable converged quickly but trapped local solutions than Rao-2 Rao-4. Rao-4 efficient global search stability less other algorithms. Keywords:nonlinear analysis, optimisation, frame.
